Hey there!

Some nice news from the shiny Dutch seas.

Who was there at the Graspop festival this past weekend?
Of course Moonspell gave a fantastic show there and I was thrilled to join them for a song! What great guys they are and what a nice tour they have ahead of them.
We wish them all the good luck in the world.

As you know, I am writing new songs.
They are getting the right shape and form as we are doing a bit of
preproduction on them.
We have a nice lot of up tempo songs and the melancholic ballads you are used to hearing will be there to serve your ears as well.
We will play some of them live when we will hit the festival stages this summer.

Speaking of which, I am thrilled we will play some big, and some cozy ones this year. Some Dutch and some abroad. Agua's first festival summer! I am proud!

This summer is also the one for staying home, a new home actually!
We are moving house from the city to the country side to create a nice little peaceful
home and to build a studio as well. We will be able to write and record our future music there. It's a dream come true and I am just happy to share this with you.

After the summer we will play more Agua club shows in Holland and abroad.

Me and Danny will do some more acoustic shows across Europe as well!

I am looking FW to all of that indeed!

So... this I went to Norway to see Anneke Van Giersbergen and Danny Cavanagh perform together... A little over a year ago I thought I had seen the best show I was going to see in a very long time, I was wrong.

Sunday came and I found the venue at around 3, and as it was a nice little bar I decided I may aswel go and buy myself a nice, cold beer... Now, Norway is extremely nice but my god, its expensive! As the currency there has no real similarities with ours, I handed over the money for drinks without really thinking how much they cost... it worked out to be around £9!!! For one pint!!!! And it was Heineken!!!

Anyway, nevermind... my first suprise was when I saw on the poster that Kristin Fjellseth (Pale Forest) would be supporting, she has a nice band and a great voice... so I was looking forward to that too...

A Burger King, nap and shower later and I returned to the venue to find Kristin sound checking... moments later both Anneke and Danny had arrived and were as nice as ever... It always amazes me how Anneke seems to remember every fan and takes such an interest in them.

So it was time for the show... we all sat on the floor and on chairs around the tiny stage as if we were in a school assembly or something, the place was packed and the atmosphere was great.

Anyone who has ever seen Anathema will know that it is an incredibly emotive show, and Danny alone felt very much the same, if anything the stripped down versions applified it a little. In England, Sunday was Fathers Day which made songs like 'One Last Goodbye' send a pretty massive shiver down my spine...

Next, it was Anneke's turn... most people who know me at all are aware that for me Anneke's voice is the most incredible thing ever... after a few quarrels with a keyboard that obviously wasn't hers, she did a fantastic job. The main thing for me was the fact that...
1) It was the first time I had ever heard her voice so clear, with no distortion from heavy guitars or drums... just Anneke, her a keyboard/acoustic guitar and the silent crowd.
2) As most times i've seen Anneke headline a show was in Holland, I could never understand a word she was saying between songs. She would always tell stories and I would just stand cluelessly... this time I understood, and they were great!
The highlights for me were 'She's Only Happy In The Sun' (Ben Harper cover) and 'Locked Away'... Incredible.

After a short break, Annie and Danny took the stage together... their chemistry showed instantly as they laughed and told jokes together... they played so many songs... The Gathering, Anathema and some nice covers... One of the most incredibly emotive, beautiful parts of the show was when Danny told us how there was a song that was extremely important in his life and that he had asked Anneke to perform it with him... The crowd sat in perfect silence as they played Eva Cassidy's 'Songbird' and if the building had a spine it would have shivered too... That was followed by a powerful 'Leaves' and finished with Massive Attack's 'Teardrop'.

The venue was newly built and the barman had told me earlier that they had yet to build a backstage are... so Annie and Danny left the stage and stood just beside it as the extremely respectful applause went on and on and gave them no choice but to take the stage again.... They changes the tempo a little with a version of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' and had the crowd singing along, smiles throughout.

Again they left the stage, and again the applause carried on and would not stop. After quite a while I watched them deliberating wether or not they should play anymore, and they came to the stage confessing that they didn't expect this and hadn't rehearsed anymore together... as people in the crowd started shouting their request for one of The Gatherings classics 'Nighttime Birds' Anneke appologised and said they couldn't... her and Danny hadn't reher..... her face was a picture as she realised that behind her. Danny was playing the intro to Nighttime Birds perfectly, but alas - they decided they didn't know it well enough and we settled for hearing the perfect 'A Natural Disaster' for a second time.

And that ended the evening, and it was the most magical, beautiful gig I have ever seen... I have seen bands with massive stages, light shows, fireworks and a thousand other gimmicks but not one of those came close to matching the incredible atmosphere that was created by these 2 incredible people and their modest keyboard and Acoustic Guitar.

Dear people!

Today is a sunny day in Holland!
Flowers blossom and the Agua shores are rising.
I am a happy mother :-)

Allow me to barge in with good news.

As you may know I have recorded a single with some of Hollands greatest artists for the good cause of Tibet.
We sing a beautiful Dutch song: Als Je Ooit Nog Eens Terug Kan (If You Could Ever Return)
This single is out now and download-able trough the following link.

If ever, I ask you now to join us and raise money and awareness for the Tibetan people and their situation.

The money that we will raise will go directly to three Tibetan nuns who live in exile in the north of India.
They have been singing a protest song on the steps of the Dalai Lama’s palace and have been arrested by the Chinese government therefor.
For six years they have been severely tortured in prison and their physical damage is so bad that they are not able to work a proper job. They would love to study and live a proper, fulfilling life and money is needed for that.
We are doing all we can to help them achieve this goal. Help us help them by downloading the single!

In the past few months I have been doing many different projects, collaborations and gigs. Some bigger some small.
I am inspired and blessed with all these great jobs.
One of which is my collaboration with Moonspell.
I sang on their upcoming album Night Eternal which will come out in May.

Also, my dear friend Danny Cavanagh and I will do some more shows together.
This time we will go abroad so check our sites for dates. We will put them up soon.
I am looking forward to this very much!

The coming months we are playing many shows and festivals in Holland and we are just peeking round the corner to continue our gigs abroad.
Starting with the Paris & Lille ones this month, Romania in July and we are busy with some more in the fall this year.

I have also written a bunch of new songs which we will take into the studio this summer.
The songs will be more rock oriented and of course I will provide you with all the intensity and romance you are used to hearing from Agua as well.

And last but not the least of news: We are working on our online merchandise shop.

Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL have finalized the track listing for their new album, "Night Eternal", due in Europe on May 19 and in the U.S. on June 10 via SPV/Steamhammer. The follow-up to 2006's "Memorial" was recorded at Antfarm studios in Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, DARK TRANQUILLITY, HALFORD).

There will be, at first, two editions of the record: A limited double digipack with different artwork, one bonus track ("Age of Mothers"), a different version of the song "Scorpion Flower", the full album as well as a bonus DVD containing all video clips from "Memorial" plus "Finisterra" "making-of" footage and three live clips from last year's performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany; plus the jewel case edition, to which the band hopes to add at least another bonus song.

Two songs from "Night Eternal" — "Scorpion Flower" and the title track — are available for streaming on the MOONSPELL MySpace page. The videos for these tracks will be shot by Ivan Colic (TYPE O NEGATIVE, SYMPHONY X, HAMMERFALL) in Belgrade, Serbia. Colic previously worked with the group on the "Memorial" video for "Finisterra".

Anneke van Giersbergen - ex-GATHERING singer who now fronts AGUA DE ANNIQUE -- has posted an update about writing new material and upcoming shows

"Hello all, I am currently writing new songs. We plan to record this summer. I'll keep you updated.

In other news, we are playing the upcoming 'Ticket for Tibet' festival in Holland on April 20th, 2008. The event organizers plan to release a single, which I have been invited to sing on, to help make people more aware of Tibet and its current problems. The other participants who will also sing on the single are a few of the finest Dutch musicians and I'm proud they've asked me to join them.

Hi Everybody!

Last weekend we have played our very first festival with Agua de Annique!
And not just any festival... we played the Noorderslag fest in Groningen Holland.
Here's where all 'hip and happening' Dutch bands play in front of an eager audience and many people from the bizzz
We were very pleased to be there!

And so we are moving on in 2008... We played a very new song called 'My Town' in Groningen and we are prepping a few more to expand our live set.

The year started of in a fantastic way when Joris and I were joined by my lovely friend Danny Cavanagh and played the Little Devil Club in Tilburg Holland. We had no time for a proper rehearsal, but there was some magic in the air that night I guess. Thank you to those of you who came to see us, Danny & Joris and also Paul & LD for having us.

I have written a bunch of new tunes for the next album already and we will hop into the studio one of these months to make a nice and relaxed start.

But first! We'll play the clubs and festivals in Holland and abroad. The Dutch festival season is traditionally opened by the great Paaspop festival and we will be playing there on March 22nd.

I am very happy with the start of this new year!

Hello All!

I am reporting to you from a grey and cold Nijmegen.
But in my heart it is sunny!

We have done yet another weekend of shows and they again went very well.
I am so happy and proud of all the people coming to see us and with the support-comments and mails we get on our sites.
Thank you all very much!

There are some nice events coming up.
Amongst our next weekend shows we will be supporting our friends of Within Temptation in Eindhoven.
We are looking fw to it!

Also we are in for a gig on the renowned Noorderslag festival in Groningen Holland on January 12th. This will be a great start of 2008.
The first summer festivals requests are coming in and I am writing new tunes.
We might play one or two of those in our upcoming live sets.

First of: the video is online!
A great big cheer for our friends at mooves for creating this beauty.

Last Saturday, thanks to the nice people of De Klos and Lawn, we had a dress rehearsal in Emmeloord. It went really well and we're pretty confident we won't let the visitors to our November gigs down in any way.

As of now, the single "Day After Yesterday" is for sale as digital download here. To avoid any doubt: this is a legal download, we will be receiving the proceeds. "Since I began flying and was introduced to the world of the stewardess, ‘the lady in the aisle’ has fascinated me enormously.
She is a phenomenon in my eyes; friendly, helpful, skillful, and… clean and neat.
No wrinkles, no cracks showing in her make-up and no hair on her head is pointing in the wrong direction.
I can watch her for hours and study her details:
That one beautiful pin in her perfect hair, her never fading lip gloss.
I cheer inside when I see her lose her patience a little bit with an annoying passenger.
I wonder; how long can she stand on those heels? How long until her pantyhose tear? Does she ever curse? Was she a lonely child?
Does her family carry around a dark secret?
Because nobody is perfect, right?
Not even the stewardess I suppose.

The thing is that in our culture, the moral values we live by are based upon achieving and winning and not about just being human with all our beauty, talents, flaws and silly sides included.

This is one of the reasons why we don’t check what we feel and need first when we are not at ease, but instead we look at the person next to us and we try to reach their goals instead of our own.

When I look at the stewardess, I admire those qualities that I do not own myself.

I admire her neatness and skills.

I love that she seems so different from me and instead of wanting to be her; she inspires me to be myself.

The stewardess is the ambassador of Agua de Annique and the album ‘Air’.
She represents the duality of life.
The beautiful side of life and the dark side.
The comfortable and the uneasy.
The lovely and the grim.
All these sides belong to our lives, we should embrace and cherish them as we are so different from each other, and yet, we are so similar."
