Anneke van Giersbergen appears once again on an Ayreon album.

Arjen says about Anneke:
"Hans van Vuuren of the Transmission label is a big fan of Anneke and one day asked me to have a good listen to her voice. Indeed I was quite impressed. Anneke is a pitch-perfect singer and her voice has a wonderful deep vibrato. It took quite some time to convince Anneke (but more specifically her band) to participate on Ayreon. I planned a whole day for her to record her vocals for 'Into the Electric Castle', but she was done in little over an hour! I think her melodies for The Gathering are quite unique, so I asked her to create her own melody lines for the song 'Tunnel of Light'. She is a very talented singer and it is unfortunate she doesn't do more side-projects. If she did, she could develop even more and we would be able to enjoy her voice so much more!"
